USS Abraham Lincoln carrier faces crew hygiene and supply shortages amid extended deployment

Families of sailors aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln have reported mold‑y showers, shortages of soap, toothpaste, deodorant and other hygiene items, as well as intermittent food supply problems. They warn that prolonged exhaustion and poor living conditions could increase the risk of mistakes on the flight deck.

The aircraft carrier is in its ninth month at sea and its fifth consecutive month of combat operations against Iran, a deployment that has been extended beyond the usual seven‑month tour. Crew members have had only two days of shore leave since leaving San Diego in November, with a brief stop in Guam in December and a short port call in Oman after 208 continuous days at sea. The Navy says repair work on the flight deck is underway and maintains that the ship remains operational despite the logistical challenges.
