USS Abraham Lincoln returns to Guam after nine-month deployment

The aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln has arrived at Naval Base Guam for a logistics stop following a nearly nine-month deployment. The deployment included approximately seven months of operations within the U.S. Central Command region, supporting military operations in the Middle East.

Accompanying the Nimitz-class carrier is the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Frank E. Petersen Jr. The arrival in Guam marks the first time Carrier Strike Group 3 personnel have returned to American soil in nine months. Before reaching Guam, the ships made port calls in Thailand earlier in September.

The strike group has transitioned back to the U.S. 7th Fleet area to conduct routine operations in the Indo-Pacific. According to reports, the deployment lasted approximately 302 days, which is noted as one of the longest carrier deployments since the end of the Cold War.
