Balkan regions face power outages and labor unrest
Multiple regions across the Balkans are experiencing significant disruptions to electricity services and labor stability.
In Bosnia and Herzegovina, miners from the Breza and Bila mines have canceled planned protests in Sarajevo following promises that unpaid August wages would be settled shortly. However, workers remain in a state of industrial disobedience until payments are confirmed.
Simultaneously, widespread planned power outages are scheduled across several municipalities in Sarajevo, Tuzla, and various regions of Montenegro, including Podgorica, Nikšić, and Pljevlja, due to maintenance on the electrical grid.
In Croatia, planned maintenance on high-voltage lines and low-voltage networks will cause electricity interruptions in parts of Međimurje and the Dalmatia region, specifically affecting Split, Kaštela, and Brač.
In Serbia, officials have assured citizens that there will be no fuel shortages, noting that the state is prepared to release diesel from reserves to meet high demand and manage market instability.
