Balkan transport: Roadworks and accidents cause regional traffic disruptions

Multiple regions in the Balkans are experiencing significant traffic disruptions due to roadworks, accidents, and weather conditions.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, BiHAMK reports wet road surfaces and various closures. Major disruptions include the closure of the Golubinja-Nemila section of the A-1 highway and the Jajce–Crna Rijeka road in Podmilačje. Heavy traffic and long queues are reported at the Izačić border crossing. Additionally, weight restrictions are in place on several main roads, such as the Tuzla-Bijeljina route, where vehicles over 3.5 tons are prohibited.

In Montenegro, extensive roadworks are causing scheduled closures and changes in traffic regimes. Notable projects include the reconstruction of the Djurdjevića Tara bridge on the M-6 highway, which will involve a total suspension of all traffic from August 10 to October 26, 2026. Other regional road works in areas like Petnjica and Bar-Kamenički are also affecting traffic flow.

In Slovenia, traffic is being hampered by accidents and vehicle breakdowns. Significant delays are reported on the motorway near Trebnje, the Štajerska motorway, and the Primorska motorway. Planned closures are also scheduled for the Vransko and Blagovica sections of the motorway during the night.
