UTN Tierra del Fuego unveils plaque honoring dictatorship victims

The Universidad Tecnológica Nacional (UTN) Regional Faculty of Tierra del Fuego held a ceremony to unveil a commemorative plaque honoring the victims of the last civic-military dictatorship. The event, held in Rio Grande, was led by Dean Francisco Álvarez and attended by faculty staff, students, and special guests.

The plaque is part of the national project ‘30 Mil Pañuelos por la Memoria’ (30 Thousand Scarves for Memory), an independent artistic initiative that creates ceramic pieces featuring the white scarves associated with the Madres and Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo. This project aims to establish permanent marks of memory within institutions and public spaces across Argentina.

According to Marcela Palacios of the UTN Tierra del Fuego Gender Area, the installation follows an institutional decision by the UTN Rectorate to commission a plaque for each of its regional faculties to preserve collective memory.
