UTPN in Ciudad Juárez recognized for blood donation drive and opens scholarship applications

The State Health Secretariat awarded Universidad Tecnológica Paso del Norte (UTPN) for its ongoing participation in blood donation campaigns coordinated with the Regional Blood Bank. Since 2013 the university has organized two to three collection events each year; the latest gathered 27 units of blood, providing red cells, plasma and platelets for roughly 80 patients in public hospitals for trauma, serious illnesses, violence and surgeries. Irving Vázquez Hernández, head of the university’s health department, highlighted the institution’s long‑term humanitarian commitment.

The municipal government continues to accept applications for UTPN scholarships that cover full tuition for the September‑December 2026 term. Eligible candidates are Mexican residents of Ciudad Juárez aged 17‑29 who have completed high school and are admitted or prospective students. Alvídrez Olivas explained that registration remains open until 21 August, with document submission from 13‑21 August at the university’s Academic Services building. Results will be announced on 31 August, and the scholarships are funded by the municipal administration led by Mayor Héctor Rafael Ortiz Orpinel.
