Uttar Pradesh and Yamanashi Prefecture sign MoU to boost industrial and legislative ties

Uttar Pradesh and Japan’s Yamanashi Prefecture have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen legislative, educational, agricultural, and tourism ties. The agreement, signed by Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana and Yamanashi Prefectural Assembly Chairman Hidenori Miyamoto, aims to facilitate regular dialogue and the exchange of administrative experiences between the two regions.

During the UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026 in Lucknow, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath characterized Japan as a “co-creator” in the state’s goal to become a global manufacturing and innovation hub. To support this partnership, Governor Kotaro Nagasaki announced the creation of a ₹600-crore fund to assist investment by Yamanashi-based MSMEs in Uttar Pradesh.

To streamline operations, a dedicated ‘Yamanashi Desk’ will be established at Invest UP to assist Japanese companies with coordination and approvals. Additionally, both parties committed to a 90-day review process for projects to address implementation challenges regarding land and regulatory approvals.
