Uttar Pradesh BJP MLA alleges daughter was duped by man accused of 25 marriages

Gyan Tiwari, a BJP MLA from Sevata in Uttar Pradesh, has filed a police complaint alleging that his daughter was deceived into marrying a man who has allegedly entered into 25 marriages using fake identities.

According to the complaint filed at the Reusa police station, Tiwari's daughter, Pragya, married Prakhar Trivedi in 2024. The MLA alleged that Prakhar's father, Anuj Trivedi, posed as a prominent real estate businessman from Mumbai to conceal their criminal history and previous legal issues. The deception was reportedly discovered through social media and other sources approximately two and a half years after the marriage.

Tiwari claims that Prakhar used various identities to target women across multiple states, including Maharashtra, and cheated them of significant sums of money. Following the discovery, Tiwari brought his daughter back to his home and severed all ties with the Trivedi family. Police have arrested both Anuj and Prakhar Trivedi, and an investigation is underway to verify the allegations of fraud and the extent of the accused's previous activities.
