Investigations indicate that Anuj Trivedi allegedly posed as a Mumbai-based real estate businessman to facilitate approximately 25 fraudulent marriages across multiple states. The deception was reportedly uncovered through social media and other sources roughly two and a half years after the MLA's daughter married Prakhar in 2024.

Authorities have arrested both Prakhar and Anuj Trivedi. Following the discovery of the fraud, the MLA filed a police complaint, brought his daughter back to his home, and severed all ties with the accused family.
