Uttar Pradesh flood relief: 19,000 rescued and millions of aid kits distributed
The Uttar Pradesh government has intensified rescue and relief operations following widespread flooding across the state. According to the Uttar Pradesh Relief Commissioner Office, 37 districts have been affected, with 25 districts currently experiencing flood impacts.
Rescue efforts have successfully moved over 19,000 people to safer locations using more than 2,000 boats and motorboats. To date, the administration has distributed approximately 5.94 lakh lunch packets and over 1.03 lakh flood relief kits to affected families. More than 1,300 shelters have been established, housing over 6,000 individuals.
To prevent the spread of waterborne diseases, the health department has deployed 1,072 medical teams. Relief supplies including 6.47 lakh chlorine tablets and 2.49 lakh ORS packets have been distributed to ensure water safety and health. Authorities report that there have been no recorded human or animal casualties resulting from the floods so far.
