Uttar Pradesh launches UPSSSC PET 2026 exam for 3.5 million candidates
The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) commenced the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) 2026 on October 25. The examination, which serves as a screening process for various Group C government positions including Lekhpal and Village Development Officer, is being held across 1,372 centers in 60 cities.
To manage the massive scale of over 3.5 million applicants, authorities have implemented strict security measures, including biometric iris scans, live photo capture, and CCTV monitoring to prevent malpractice. Administrative officials, including District Magistrate Kavita Meena in Hapur, have conducted inspections to ensure facilities such as electricity, clean water, and sanitation are available.
Logistical support has been scaled up significantly. The Indian Railways has deployed special trains in regions like Moradabad and Lucknow to facilitate candidate movement, while the transport department is operating hundreds of additional buses, such as the 407 buses deployed in the Chitrakoot Dham division. In the Agra division, help desks and holding areas have been established at major stations like Agra Cantt and Mathura Junction to assist travelers.
