Uttar Pradesh police shoot criminal, arrest two suspects in Jaunpur district

Late on Friday night, police in the Khuthan area of Jaunpur district, Uttar Pradesh, attempted to stop two youths on a motorcycle during a vehicle‑check operation. The suspects opened fire, prompting the police to return fire. One suspect, identified as Rinku Yadav (also known as Omprakash Yadav), was hit in the left leg and taken to a community health centre. He was arrested at the scene along with his accomplice Satyam Lona (alias Lallu). Officers recovered a pistol, a cartridge and the motorcycle.

Rinku Yadav is listed in police records as a habitual offender with cases pending in multiple districts, including charges of attempted murder, robbery, theft, gang‑related offences and violations of the Arms Act. Legal proceedings have been initiated against both men. The encounter follows a recent STF operation in Ambedkar Nagar where gangster Asif Ali was killed.
