Uttar Pradesh political campaigns ramp up ahead of state elections

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) launched a 12‑day padyatra on Monday, marching from Ayodhya to Prayagraj. The walk aims to highlight employment, caste equality and social justice in Uttar Pradesh and is part of AAP’s outreach ahead of the 2026 state elections. Participants will travel through Sultanpur, Pratapgarh and Kaushambi, meeting residents and gathering feedback that the party plans to present in a public rally and a “People’s Report” in Prayagraj on November 24.

Meanwhile, the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) is seeking to expand its footprint beyond its traditional western‑Uttar Pradesh base. Party officials say the RLD has broadened its organisational network in eastern Uttar Pradesh and is demanding more than 50 assembly seats in the NDA’s seat‑sharing talks for the 2027 elections. RLD leaders met with BJP National President Nitin Nabin and other NDA allies, describing the discussions as “fruitful” and signalling a push to contest in districts across Purvanchal and other regions of the state.
