Uttar Pradesh political parties restructure ahead of 2027 elections

Major political parties in Uttar Pradesh are restructuring their strategies ahead of the 2027 assembly elections.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has implemented significant changes to its national organizational structure to regain ground in the state after its Lok Sabha seat count dropped from 62 to 33. In the new national team led by Nitin Nabin, Uttar Pradesh has received increased representation with eight leaders appointed to various national roles, including Vice President, General Secretary, and Secretary positions. Notably, seven of these eight appointees are under the age of 55, a move intended to connect with younger voters.

Simultaneously, the Samajwadi Party (SP) is working to expand its social base in Western Uttar Pradesh. The party is attempting to move beyond its traditional vote banks by targeting Tyagi and Brahmin communities. To facilitate this, SP is utilizing Ghosi MP Rajiv Rai to increase outreach and dialogue with these influential social groups, aiming to reduce dependence on specific coalitions before the 2027 polls.
