Uttar Pradesh caste-driven election dynamics
Entities: Bharatiya Janata Party · Mohammad Fahim Irfan · Mohammad Nasir Qureshi · Kithore Assembly constituency · Shahid Manzoor
Overview
Analysts are mapping caste and community voting patterns in several western Uttar Pradesh assembly constituencies ahead of the 2027 state elections. In Kithore, the Samajwadi Party incumbent Shahid Manzoor faces a diverse electorate of over 322,000 voters, with Muslims, Dalits, Gurjars, Tyagis, Jats, Thakurs and Brahmins shaping the contest. Nearby Meerut South, a largely urban seat held by BJP’s Dr Somendra Singh Tomar, counts nearly 392,000 voters, where Muslims, Scheduled Castes, Vaishya‑Jains, Jats and Gurjars are influential.
Similarly, the Debai and Bulandshahr seats are being examined for their caste equations. Debai’s 314,000‑strong electorate is dominated by Lodh‑Rajputs alongside Scheduled Castes, Muslims and other groups, with the BJP retaining the seat after a large 2022 margin. Bulandshahr’s 352,000 voters mix urban and rural communities, including Muslims, Scheduled Castes, Jats and Yadavs, and also remain under BJP control. Across all four constituencies, caste affiliations are seen as decisive factors that could shape the broader political direction of Uttar Pradesh in the upcoming 2027 legislative polls.
