Uttar Pradesh politics: SP and BJP leaders trade accusations

Political tensions are escalating in Uttar Pradesh as leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Samajwadi Party (SP) exchange criticisms ahead of future elections.

Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav has accused the BJP government of spreading false claims regarding investment in the state. He argued that while the government claims significant investment, MSME units are being ruined and actual manufacturing, such as mobile phone production, is merely assembly using components from China, Taiwan, and Korea. Yadav characterized the upcoming 2027 assembly election as a fight to protect democracy, the constitution, and reservations.

In response, BJP leader Sunil Bharala criticized Yadav’s ‘PDA Rath Yatra’, suggesting the Samajwadi Party leader is disconnected from ground realities. Bharala claimed that Yadav is prematurely celebrating as if an election victory is already secured. He defended the current administration under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, citing development works and employment initiatives, while accusing the SP government of past recruitment scandals and casteism.
