Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test 2026 sees 93% turnout, AI monitoring catches impostors
The Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) 2026, conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission, was held across 955 centres in 60 districts. On the first day, 1,994,661 candidates registered and 84.76% attended. The second day saw a higher participation rate, with 751,321 of the 807,709 registered candidates (93.01%) appearing for the exam.
The commission employed AI‑integrated CCTV and a centralised control command room to monitor all centres. This technology helped identify and apprehend 11 fraudulent candidates – nine posing as other test‑takers, one with a hidden mobile phone, and two additional impostors in the second shift. Those caught were handed over to local police for legal action. Security personnel, district magistrates and senior police officers were also deployed, and prohibitory orders remained in force around the examination sites to ensure a peaceful, cheat‑free environment.
Commission Chairman Dr. Prashant Kumar urged candidates to ignore rumours, follow official instructions on their admit cards, and comply with the strict anti‑cheating measures outlined in the Uttar Pradesh Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.
