Uttar Pradesh weather alert issued for heavy monsoon rains

Heavy monsoon rains continue to affect Uttar Pradesh, with the meteorological department issuing a yellow alert for heavy rainfall in six districts: Siddharthnagar, Sant Kabir Nagar, Maharajganj, Kushinagar, Gorakhpur, and Deoria.

In the Purvanchal region, rainfall is expected to persist for the next 48 hours. Varanasi and surrounding areas are anticipating thunderstorms and rain through September 9, which has helped maintain lower maximum temperatures below 35 degrees Celsius. In the capital, Lucknow, dense cloud cover and rain have caused localized waterlogging and reduced visibility.

While the rainfall provides relief for Kharif crops such as paddy, it has also caused disruptions to daily life, including waterlogging in urban areas like Bareilly and Lucknow. Local administrations have been instructed to remain vigilant and monitor flood-prone zones to manage potential damage and traffic issues.
