Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami approves Rs 29.1 cr infrastructure funds and bans road prayers during Char Dham Yatra

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced the approval of Rs 29.10 crore for a range of infrastructure and drinking‑water projects across the state. Funding includes a multi‑level parking facility in Pauri Garhwal, hand‑pump installations in Almora, energy‑efficient pumps for the Hindolakhal water scheme in Tehri Garhwal, a new park in Pithoragarh, and temporary works for the upcoming Kumbh Mela 2027. Dhami directed officials to complete the projects within set timelines and quality standards.

Separately, Dhami warned that public prayers, specifically namaz, must be confined to mosques, Eidgahs and other designated locations. "I heard a senior Congress leader saying that permission should be given to offer ‘namaz’ on roads. We have clearly said that there are designated places for offering ‘namaz’, and prayers should be held there only," he said, adding that during the Char Dham Yatra, which sees lakhs of pilgrims, any obstruction of traffic would not be tolerated. He emphasized that "everyone should respect faith, but no one is above law and order."
