Delhi Malviya Nagar fire probe affirmed by CM Dhami and CM Gupta

A fire at the Flourish Stay B&B in Delhi's Malviya Nagar area on June 3 killed 21‑22 people, including dozens of foreign nationals. The investigation identified serious safety violations, and the hotel owner Lavkesh Bajaj was taken into police custody. Cook Keshav Negi, a Uttarakhand resident, was arrested on accusations of negligence and held for two days of police custody.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami spoke with Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, seeking assurance that the probe would be conducted impartially and transparently. Gupta posted on X that the investigation would be based on facts and evidence, promising no innocent person would face injustice. Dhami also contacted Negi’s daughter, Kanishka Negi, offering assistance and emphasizing support for migrant Uttarakhand workers. Several political figures, including BJP MPs and the Uttarakhand Congress, have called for a fair inquiry and highlighted concerns about scapegoating a low‑ranking employee.

The Delhi Police continue to examine the fire’s cause and broader accountability.
