Uttarakhand CM Dhami reviews water mission and monsoon preparedness
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has issued several directives to state officials regarding infrastructure and disaster management. During a review of the Jal Jeevan Mission, it was reported that 15,540 out of 16,555 planned water schemes have been completed, providing tap water connections to approximately 14.20 lakh rural families. The Chief Minister emphasized that the mission's success depends on the consistent delivery of safe and quality drinking water, rather than just the number of connections, and ordered the verification of completed projects.
In response to the monsoon season, Dhami instructed District Magistrates to maintain high vigilance and keep disaster management machinery on alert. He directed officials to remain accessible at all times to handle any emergencies. Additionally, the Chief Minister ordered a statewide campaign to ensure all roads are pothole-free by October 15. District Magistrates are required to assess monsoon-related road damage and drainage issues to prioritize repairs and reconstruction immediately following the rainy season.
