Uttarakhand government details justice process in Ankita Bhandari case

Following the life imprisonment sentence handed to the perpetrators in the Ankita Bhandari murder case, the Uttarakhand government under Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has detailed the legal and investigative actions taken to secure justice.

Upon the incident's discovery, the government ordered immediate action, resulting in the suspects being jailed within 24 hours. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed, and a 500-page charge sheet was prepared involving approximately 100 witness statements. The government also applied the Gangster Act against the accused.

To support the victim's family, the state provided ₹25 lakh in financial assistance and secured government jobs for Ankita’s father and brother. Additionally, responding to the parents' request, Chief Minister Dhami ordered a CBI investigation into the matter.
