Uttarakhand officials review disaster preparedness amid rain warning

On July 12, the District Magistrate of Pauri Garhwal, Swati S. Bhaduria, chaired a video‑conference review of the district’s disaster‑readiness after a rain and weather warning. The meeting covered road, electricity, drinking‑water, health, communication, relief and rescue arrangements, as well as the status of the Char Dham pilgrimage routes.

Officials were instructed to remain in the field, report incidents instantly to the control room, and keep unsafe motorways closed until cleared. Departments were directed to deploy machinery on vulnerable roads, provide water tankers where supply is affected, ensure doctors and health‑staff are present at all centres, relocate families from partially damaged homes to relief shelters, and conduct drainage inspections in key areas. The magistrate stressed that every minute counts during an emergency and that negligence would not be tolerated, making the safety of residents and pilgrims the top priority.
