Uttarakhand pilgrim helicopter flights face emergency landing and weather suspensions

A helicopter operating on the Char Dham pilgrimage route landed safely in Tehri district after a technical fault was detected on its return from Badrinath. All seven occupants, including the pilot and six passengers from Delhi, were unharmed.

Separately, helicopter services to Kedarnath have been halted due to deteriorating weather, leaving many pilgrims stranded overnight. District Magistrate Vishal Mishra emphasized safety and instructed operators to assist travelers while awaiting improved conditions. Authorities are also conducting a waste‑collection drive along the Kedarnath route as part of an ongoing cleanliness campaign.

Both incidents highlight the operational challenges of high‑altitude air transport during the busy pilgrimage season, prompting safety checks and contingency measures by aviation regulators and state officials.
