Uttarakhand Receives ₹451.63 Crore Central Funding for Infrastructure

The Union Finance Ministry has approved a first instalment of ₹451.63 crore (approximately US$55 million) as interest‑free special assistance to the state of Uttarakhand under the Special Assistance Scheme for capital investment for FY 2026‑27. The money is earmarked for the implementation of approved capital projects – including roads, bridges, drinking‑water supply, health, education and tourism facilities – and must be spent by 31 March 2027.

The approval also directs the state to reallocate an unspent ₹53.27 crore from the 2025‑26 plan into the new budget cycle. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, saying the loan will accelerate infrastructure work, boost the state’s economy and generate jobs while adhering to transparency and quality standards.

The funding is part of the central government's broader effort to accelerate infrastructure development across Indian states through zero‑interest loans.
