Uttarakhand to receive 73 MW of additional electricity for winter
The central government has approved the allocation of an additional 73 megawatts (MW) of electricity to Uttarakhand to meet increased demand during the winter months. This additional power will be sourced from the unallocated pool of central sector power generation stations.
The allocation is scheduled to be effective from October 1, 2026, through March 2027. The monthly breakdown of the additional supply includes 5 MW in October 2026, 8 MW in November, 16 MW in December, 19 MW in January 2027, 16 MW in February, and 9 MW in March.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar for the arrangement, noting that the extra capacity will help ensure an uninterrupted power supply during the cold season.
