Uungula Wind Farm completes first turbine installation
The first wind turbine has been fully erected and is in motion at the Uungula Wind Farm, marking a major milestone for the regional mega-project. The turbine was completed on August 30, 2026, following the installation of three 80-metre blades that were transported 400 kilometres from the Port of Newcastle.
Squadron Energy, the company behind the project, reported that construction is more than two-thirds complete. The project is now entering the tower installation phase. Once finished, the 414MW wind farm is expected to generate enough electricity to power more than 220,000 homes. A total of 204 blades will be required to complete all turbines at the site.
