V. Narayanasamy urges central government to block Mekedatu Dam

Former Puducherry Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy has urged the central government to deny permission to the Karnataka government for the Mekedatu Dam project. He warned that the construction of the dam would completely stop the flow of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu, severely impacting farmers in the Cauvery Delta region and Puducherry.

Regarding regional governance, Narayanasamy criticized the recent Puducherry budget, stating that despite significant figures mentioned in the Governor's speech, actual funds for development are minimal. He noted that approximately 80% of the budget is allocated to salaries and pensions, leaving only about 2,300 crore rupees for development projects. He also highlighted administrative inefficiencies, citing reports of unspent funds being returned to the central government.

On the national political stage, Narayanasamy expressed confidence that Rahul Gandhi will be the Prime Ministerial candidate for the INDIA alliance in the 2029 elections, suggesting that actor-turned-politician Vijay would accept this leadership.
