V Point rewards program to launch on Japanese railway lines

V Point Marketing and Sumitomo Mitsui Card have announced a new service starting October 7, 2026, that allows commuters to earn V Points through contactless credit card payments on specific Japanese railway lines. The service will be available on the Keio Line, Tsukuba Express, Yurikamome, and Enoshima Electric Railway.

Under this program, users can earn both standard payment points and additional “ride points” at a rate of 1 point for every 200 yen spent. This allows for a “double dip” of rewards. At the launch, the service will be limited to Visa brand cards, with plans for future expansion.

The initiative is being introduced as a two-year demonstration experiment to evaluate its effectiveness in promoting public transport use and creating a cycle between mobility and consumer spending. To participate, users must register as V Point and “Q-move” members and link their accounts via the V Point app.
