Vía Verde de Segura expansion adds 27 km in Jaén
The Diputación de Jaén is currently developing a new 27-kilometer section of the Vía Verde de Segura natural path. This expansion will connect Arroyo del Ojanco with Villanueva del Arzobispo, utilizing the former Baeza-Utiel railway line.
Executed by Tragsa, the project involves an investment exceeding 4.6 million euros, supported by funds from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. The works include the construction of a new road surface, reinforcement of slopes, the repair of seven viaducts, and the installation of twelve illuminated tunnels. Additionally, the project features rest areas and three metal walkways for pedestrians and cyclists over the N-322 and A-3601 roads.
Once completed, this extension will bring the total length of the Vía Verde in Jaén to 54 kilometers. When linked with the 20-kilometer Vía Verde de la Sierra de Alcaraz in Albacete, it will create a continuous 74-kilometer route spanning both provinces.
