The Vaca Muerta shale formation continues to drive significant economic and logistical shifts across the Argentine Patagonia. In Río Negro, the construction of the Vaca Muerta Oil Sur (VMOS) pipeline has generated approximately $14.25 billion in revenue distributed among 39 municipalities between January 2025 and August 2026. Regional economic trends also show growth in related sectors. Río Negro reported a 3.82% increase in fuel sales during September, outperforming the national average. Meanwhile, the province of La Pampa is developing fiscal incentives to attract service providers and construction firms linked to the Vaca Muerta value chain.
