Vaca Muerta expansion drives SME financing and regional investment

The expansion of the Vaca Muerta energy region is creating new opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to provide goods and services. To support this growth, experts suggest that SMEs look toward capital markets rather than traditional bank credit to secure financing for machinery, equipment, and personnel. Financial instruments such as promissory notes, financial trusts, and corporate bonds are highlighted as flexible tools that can be tailored to specific company demands, particularly for businesses that have won contracts but require immediate capital to execute them.

In the province of Río Negro, the government is actively promoting large-scale investments, such as the Vaca Muerta Oil Sur (VMOS) and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) projects, provided they generate local employment and utilize regional suppliers. While the province aims to foster a collaborative environment between the public sector, municipalities, and private companies, authorities have demonstrated a willingness to suspend activities for companies that fail to meet their established commitments, as seen in the case of Calcatreu.
