Vaca Muerta operators scale infrastructure and financing

Energy companies operating in the Vaca Muerta formation are expanding their financial and physical capacities to manage increasing production volumes.

YPF held its first ‘Infrastructure Day 2026’ to outline a technical and management roadmap aimed at supporting the growth of the unconventional basin. The company’s strategy, known as ‘Plan 4x4’, focuses on accelerating midstream infrastructure to transport, process, and export growing volumes of oil and gas to local and international markets. Key initiatives include the Argentina LNG project and technological advancements to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.

Simultaneously, Vista Energy, a leading independent operator in the region, successfully raised US$ 400 million through an international bond reopening on Wall Street. The senior notes carry an annual interest rate of 7.875% and mature in 2038. This capital injection is part of a larger US$ 4 billion global program intended to accelerate operations within the Neuquén basin, supported by the company’s robust production results.
