Valencia Archdiocese marks 800th anniversary of Saint Francis of Assisi

The Archdiocese of Valencia is commemorating the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi with a series of religious and cultural events. The commemorations will conclude on October 3 with a mass presided over by Archbishop Enrique Benavent at the Cathedral.

A central feature of the anniversary is the production of the first musical dedicated to the life and death of the saint, titled ‘El último cántico’. Produced by Assisi Producciones and written by José Luis Coll, the musical is scheduled to be performed at the San Juan Bosco school theater on September 26 and October 17.

The production aims to explore the inner spirituality of Francis, offering an invitation to spectators to reflect on the meaning of their own lives through his message of simplicity, poverty, and fraternity.
