Valencia arts initiatives boost local talent and heritage

Danza València and the University of Valencia have revived their technical residency programme to nurture local creators. Choreographer Marta García Navarro will work on her new piece “AiMiN” at the Sala Matilde Salvador from 7‑11 September, with the work slated to premiere on 23 September as part of the Russafa Escènica festival.

The Instituto Valenciano de Arte Moderno (IVAM) is presenting the exhibition “A media lumbre”, curated by director Blanca de la Torre. The show highlights traditional materials such as ceramics, wool, palm and other natural fibres, linking craft to contemporary art. After opening in Mallorca, the exhibition will travel to venues in Huesca and Tarragona later in the year, featuring works by artists including Ricardo Calero, Andrea Canepa, Tonina Crespí and others, and emphasizes living cultural heritage.
