Roger Llanes appointed Government Delegate in Valencia

Roger Llanes has been named the new Government Delegate in the Valencian Community, succeeding Pilar Bernabé. Llanes, an agricultural engineer and public official with over 30 years of experience in rural infrastructure and irrigation, previously served as the director of the Office for the Coordination and Impulse of the Execution of Aid for the DANA reconstruction.

Bernabé is stepping down to lead the PSOE list for the province of Valencia in the upcoming general elections on November 29. Her tenure was notably defined by the management of the 2024 DANA emergency. The leadership transition occurs as the region continues to face challenges from the recent DANA Adam storm.

In a related development, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez visited the Advanced Command Post in Oliva to assess the impact of the DANA Adam. Accompanied by the President of the Generalitat, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, Sánchez met with emergency responders and local mayors. The visit comes amid calls from regional leadership for improved institutional coordination to manage water infrastructure and reconstruction efforts.
