Valencia boosts fire‑prevention measures in Devesa del Saler amid extreme heat

The Valencia City Council has intensified surveillance in the Devesa del Saler natural park as temperatures soar and fire risk reaches extreme levels. Firefighters from the El Saler station, local police, forest guards and Civil Protection volunteers patrol the area continuously, coordinated with the Generalitat's Emergency Coordination Center.

Access to the park is closed to vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians, except for essential services, residents and agricultural activities. The municipality has also activated SIDEINFO water cannons that can discharge up to 10,000 litres per minute, creating humid corridors to lower temperatures and reduce fire danger. Fire‑prevention councilor Juan Carlos Caballero emphasized that the measures aim to protect residents and the environment, urging the public to follow heat‑wave safety advice such as staying hydrated, avoiding outdoor activity during peak heat and protecting vulnerable groups.
