Valencia judicial family meeting points to close in seven municipalities

The closure of seven judicial Family Meeting Points (PEFJ) in the Valencian Community will affect more than 2,000 families, according to the PSPV-PSOE political party. Although the regional government (Consell) recently announced a partial rectification of a previous plan to cut ten centers, the new map implemented on November 1 maintains the elimination of several locations.

The affected municipalities include Requena, Manises, and Alfafar in the province of Valencia; Sant Vicent del Raspeig, Vila Joiosa, and Villena in the province of Alicante; and Vila-real in the province of Castellón.

Romina del Rey, the PSPV-PSOE spokesperson for Children and Adolescents, criticized the decision by the PP and Vox-led government, stating that the cuts reduce the protection network for minors and create suffering for families by removing access to safe, neutral spaces. She further asserted that the protection of minors is not a priority for the current administration or the Social Services counselor, Elena Albalat.
