Valencia region taps €7.2 bn EU recovery funds and records €100 m municipal investment in 2026

The Spanish central government has spent €7.208 billion of EU Next Generation funds on the Valencian Community through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, covering 166,064 beneficiaries. Major projects include a €152 million battery gigafactory in Sagunt, €714 million for the Mediterranean railway corridor, and significant upgrades to ports and road infrastructure.

The Valencia City Council reported a record €99.89 million in real investments and capital transfers for the first seven months of 2026, a 78.8% rise over the same period in 2022. The municipal budget now shows €279 billion in authorized investments and €256.18 billion in awarded contracts, surpassing previous administrations' totals.

Both the regional and municipal spending are presented as evidence of accelerated development and improved fiscal management under the current government leadership.
