Valencia region funding programs

In July 2026 the Valencian government announced a €318,000 grant programme to support doctoral research in public economics, targeting up to three thesis projects at regional universities. The call emphasized topics such as fiscal governance, digital tax systems and sub‑national financing, aiming to link academic work with policy design.

A few weeks later, in August 2026, the focus shifted to much larger-scale financing. The Spanish central government reported that €7.208 billion of EU Next Generation recovery funds had been allocated to the Valencian Community for projects including a €152 million battery gigafactory, a €714 million Mediterranean railway corridor, and extensive port and road upgrades. Simultaneously, the Valencia City Council recorded a record €99.89 million in municipal real investments for the first seven months of the year, reflecting a 78.8 % increase over 2022.

Together, the snapshots illustrate a broadening of funding priorities in the Valencia region, from targeted academic research support to substantial investments in infrastructure and economic development driven by EU recovery resources and municipal spending.
