Valencia to award Medalla de Honor to the people of Ceuta

The City of Valencia has announced it will award its Medalla de Honor (Medal of Honor) to the people of Ceuta. The distinction will be presented during a ceremony on October 6 at the city hall.

Valencia Mayor María José Catalá announced the decision during an extraordinary plenary session. She stated the award recognizes the dignity, resilience, and steadfast defense of identity and Spain shown by the people of Ceuta. Catalá emphasized the importance of solidarity, particularly following the mass migration challenges faced by the autonomous city in late July.

The Mayor also linked the gesture to the support Valencia received from across Spain following the devastating DANA weather event in October 2024, noting that the recognition serves to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood between the two territories.
