Valencia transport federation warns of total bypass collapse this summer

The Federación Valenciana de Empresarios del Transporte y la Logística (FVET) says the Valencia bypass is experiencing a total collapse during the summer months. Vice‑president Juan Ortega cited daily accidents, average traffic stoppages of about 3 km per day and peak delays of up to 9½ hours on the 22‑km high‑intensity route, which holds Spain’s record for road fatalities. FVET urges an urgent, comprehensive expansion rather than temporary patches, noting that the bypass was built 30 years ago and now struggles to accommodate the city's growth and the heavy traffic to the Port of Valencia.

Ortega noted that a critical segment between the CV‑35 link and the V‑30 entrance to the port has been approved for widening, but work has not yet begun, meaning congestion will continue. Ongoing projects include partial lane extensions over a 3‑km stretch and a tender issued in July for the design of a connection between the A‑3 and A‑7 motorways. The federation stresses that without forward‑looking solutions, future expansions such as the new northern terminal at the Port of Valencia will face the same problems.
