Valencia regional infrastructure and road safety updates
Overview
The Valencia transport federation (FVET) warned of a “total collapse” of the Valencia bypass during the summer, citing daily accidents and peak delays of up to 9.5 hours on the 22-km route. Vice-president Juan Ortega emphasized that the 30-year-old infrastructure is struggling to handle city growth and heavy traffic to the Port of Valencia, calling for comprehensive expansion rather than temporary fixes.
In response to regional infrastructure needs, several projects have been initiated. In Valencia city, the City Council completed maintenance on the Assut de l'Or Bridge to address corrosion and structural cracks. Additionally, the Diputación de Valencia announced a project exceeding 3 million euros to upgrade the CV-640 highway, which includes resurfacing, widening the road, and adding pedestrian and cycle paths to improve safety near l'Olleria.
