Valencian anti‑fraud agency flags irregular contracts in Alcàsser town hall and Valencia fire department

The Agencia Valenciana de Prevención y Lucha contra el Fraude (Antifraude) has identified two separate procurement irregularities in the Valencia region. In Alcàsser, the municipal council paid €55,176 to the communications firm Beta Consulting S.L. for services after the original contract had expired, with no legal basis or supporting documentation. The payments continued for more than a year and a half, and the agency classified the practice as “bad practice” but did not impose sanctions; a new tender later failed to resolve the issue.

A second case involves the Valencia fire department, where a €153,420 contract to equip fire trucks with rugged tablets and software was designed to match a single company's proposal, featured an inflated price, and lacked required competitive procedures. Antifraude concluded that the tender specifications were tailored to the vendor, that the price was unjustified, and that the procurement may breach competition law. The agency urged the city to initiate a review of the contract and consider its nullification.

Both investigations highlight concerns over transparency and adherence to public‑procurement rules in local Valencian administrations.
