Valentino Gionta Jr. arrested in Torre Annunziata

Authorities have arrested Valentino Gionta Jr., the final individual sought in an investigation into a violent clash between rival criminal groups at the Maximall Pompeii shopping center in Torre Annunziata.

The conflict is linked to territorial disputes between the Gionta clan and the group known as ‘IV Sistema’ in the Penniniello district. Gionta Jr. was discovered hiding in a secret compartment within his home, which was accessible via a sophisticated trapdoor operated by a remote control.

The arrest, carried out by the Naples Mobile Squad and the Torre Annunziata Police, concludes the search for suspects involved in the May 2025 incident. The ten individuals investigated face charges including rioting, robbery, private violence, public intimidation with weapons, and firearms possession, all aggravated by mafia-style methods.
