Valerii Zaluznyi warns NATO of shifting modern warfare realities

Valerii Zaluznyi, the former Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and current Ambassador to the UK, has issued a warning regarding the evolution of modern warfare. He stated that Russia has successfully developed countermeasures to neutralize most of the modern Western weaponry provided to Ukraine. Zaluznyi argued that NATO must fundamentally modernize its military doctrines, as current planning often relies on 20th-century concepts that do not account for the rapid advancements in drones, electronic warfare, and artificial intelligence seen on the battlefield.

In parallel, Russian forces are reportedly experimenting with new technologies to counter Ukrainian drone superiority. This includes equipping tanks, such as the T-72B3M, with modernized Active Protection Systems (APS) like the "Arena-M." Originally designed to intercept missiles and high-explosive projectiles, these systems are being adapted with "anti-drone" capabilities to intercept FPV drones. Reports indicate that these systems have occasionally downed multiple drones in single engagements, forcing Ukrainian forces to increase the number of drones required to neutralize a single armored vehicle.
