Valtteri Bottas cycles 420 km from Malaysia to Singapore
Formula 1 driver Valtteri Bottas completed a 419.67-kilometer cycling journey from Sepang, Malaysia, to Singapore to attend the upcoming Grand Prix. Eschewing the flights taken by most of his colleagues, the Cadillac driver utilized a gravel bike to navigate rural roads, dirt paths, and palm plantations over a four-day period.
Bottas described the trip as an “epic adventure,” noting that he traveled primarily at night to avoid extreme tropical heat. During the journey, he encountered various wildlife, including pythons, cobras, and large lizards, and reported being chased by a dog and occasionally delayed by herds of cattle. He was accompanied by professional cyclist Tiffany Cromwell and a support vehicle.
The driver stated that the excursion was a planned activity intended to help him clear his mind and prepare physically for the high humidity and heat of the Singapore night race. He arrived in Singapore on Wednesday, meeting his scheduled media obligations on Thursday.
