Valve adds HDR and AV1 streaming support to Steam Deck OLED

Valve released a new beta update for the Steam Deck OLED that introduces HDR support for Steam Remote Play and experimental AV1 video codec streaming. The HDR feature is limited to the OLED model and enhances brightness, contrast and color accuracy when games are streamed from a PC. AV1 aims to deliver comparable or better visual quality while using less bandwidth, benefiting users on slower or congested networks. The update also expands the video colour range, improves local network game transfers and includes various bug fixes. The features are currently available only in the beta client, with no announced date for a stable release.
