Valve officially launches Steam Personal Calendar for all users

Valve has officially released the Steam Personal Calendar to all users, transitioning the feature from its year-long testing phase in Steam Labs. The tool is designed to help players discover both popular and niche titles by providing a personalized eight-week window of recently released and upcoming games.

Unlike standard recommendation systems based on general popularity, the Personal Calendar utilizes a playtime-driven algorithm. It analyzes the titles a user has spent the most time on to identify similar player profiles, subsequently recommending games that those similar users have played or added to their wishlists. While the system updates daily, Valve noted that recommendations change gradually, as short gaming sessions are unlikely to significantly alter the user's profile.

The feature is available across PC, mobile devices, and SteamOS. It includes various customization filters, allowing users to highlight wishlisted games, Early Access titles, and DLC, or to hide games they already own. Valve also confirmed that the calendar is not a paid advertising space; recommendations are generated automatically by the algorithm without paid placement options.
