Van Chamber of Commerce voter list dispute reaches Turkish Parliament

A dispute regarding voter lists for the Van Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Van TSO) elections has been brought to the agenda of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. Approximately 1,565 members, representing about 29 percent of the total 5,380 voters, have reportedly been barred from voting despite having paid their membership fees.

DEM Party MP Mahmut Dindar and Green List candidate İrem Bayram have both criticized the decision made by provincial and district election boards. The exclusion is allegedly due to an 80-minute delay in the current administration submitting the required lists to the election board on October 8.

While Bayram has called for transparency regarding whether the delay was caused by administrative negligence or coordination issues, Dindar has emphasized that the democratic legitimacy of the upcoming election is at risk. The matter has been escalated to the Supreme Election Council for a final decision.
